Jesus’ words in this next part of his Sermon both challenge and comfort us. They invite us to check our egos at the door and come to God as we are. No pretence, no performing, but coming to him as his beloved children. God is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. He forgives and forgives, and forgives, and he welcomes us to come.
