Today is the first Sunday of Advent, a season of anticipation rooted in our deepest needs. We are looking for light – and we are not alone in this. Isaiah testifies that Israel was needing the same thing. This year for Advent we’re looking at some of Isaiah’s prophecies – the servant songs that God spoke (sung?) over Israel in a time of deep need. As they’ve done for generations, they give us hope and they help us see.
